Is it January yet? Normally we wouldn’t be on board with skipping “the most magical time of the year” before we’ve enjoyed a few dozen Starbucks red cups (ooh, controversy!), but we’re pretty darn excited about our January programs.
At Koru, we run immersive, intensive business bootcamps with college students and recent graduates. Our focus is building skills, finding career direction, and most importantly, gaining hands-on experience inside real companies. A focal point of our program is the employer challenge, where the Korus (as we call our program participants) work on a real project for one of our employer partners and present their findings to the company leaders.
This January, we’re running programs in Boston and San Francisco, and we’re teaming up with the best of the best.
Koru@Essence – San Francisco
Essence Digital is a global digital ad agency boasting clients like Google, Netflix, Financial Times, and HP. They are based in London, with offices in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York City. This is our first time running a program with Essence, though since becoming a partner this August, a good number of Koru grads have joined their offices in San Francisco and New York.
Essence was recently in the news, announcing that it was joining WPP’s GroupM, leading global media investment management operation.
From AdWeek: Essence employs 500 staffers and manages $700 million in media spending for brands across 70 markets worldwide … Along with its size, which is considerable for an agency specializing in digital media, Essence is also viewed as an innovator in the space. It has won Adweek Media Plan of the Year honors for work created on behalf of Google and YouTube … Observers say the move makes sense for both sides and, from WPP’s point of view, snapping up Essence appears to strengthen its relationship with Google.
Koru@Reebok – Boston
Reebok is, well, Reebok! They’re a global leader in the sporting goods industry and are a part of the adidas Group, which employs 40,000 people worldwide. We’ll be working on a challenge for their headquarters in Canton, Massachusetts. It’s also our first time running a program with Reebok, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Fun fact: Reebok was founded in 1895, and has been rocking it ever since. They recently made headlines after announcing a six-year deal with UFC (Ultimate Fight Championship).
From Reebok’s website:
We foster a corporate culture of performance, passion, integrity, and diversity by creating a work environment that stimulates innovation, team spirit, and achievement based on strong leadership and employee engagement.
