Breathe in, breathe out. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel this finals week, and winter break is about to rock our worlds. “What should I do with this sweet, blessed downtime?” you ask. Get yourself set up for the summer internship of your dreams, obviously.
The majority of top companies hire their summer interns in the early winter, so if you want in, time is of the essence. Here are four (great) companies that are hiring interns like crazy. You can apply to these internships and more on Koru’s very free job finder.
Nordstrom — Seattle
If you’re interested in fashion and retail, Nordstrom is one of the most respected names in the game. Since the early 1900s, they’ve been continuously innovating the retail industry, with a mission to have the best customer service in the world. In their words, “Fashion changes. Shopping changes. Our commitment to happy customers doesn’t.” And, just so you know, the employee merchandise discount is fabulous.
Nordstrom is known for having a fantastic internship program, serving a large variety of career paths. Whether you’re interested in PR, project management, marketing, or human resources — Nordstrom’s got your back. Applications are due in mid-January.
Earnest — San Francisco
Earnest is a next generation financial tech company revolutionizing the banking industry. Their mission is to provide fairer access to credit to millions of Americans, and they describe themselves as a growing team of “math nerds, designers, computer geeks, and relentless innovators.”
Earnest has intentionally created an outstanding company culture, with employee benefits that include weekly team dinners, a yearly plane ticket to … anywhere, and commuter and housing stipends. This is a company that you want to get your foot in the door with, and there’s no better time than this summer.
Gap, Inc. — San Francisco
Gap opened its first store in 1969 in San Francisco. They didn’t expect to transform retail, but they did. Since that first brick and mortar store, GAP has expanded its presence internationally and online. Their mission is simple: Be the world’s favorite for American style.
Gap is looking for a team of tech interns to join them at their San Francisco headquarters. If you’re a computer science major or interested in starting a career in tech, this is for you! In their own words, “We’re not your average IT shop, and this isn’t your average internship. In your 10 weeks with GapTech, you’ll have a voice in the room, be pushed to take risks, and play a critical role in innovative projects that are transforming retail technology.”
PayPal — San Francisco
PayPal has taken the world by storm and become the global leader in online payment solutions. Their software is available in 190 markets and 24 currencies around the world. But what’s it like to work for PayPal? In their own words, “We make sure our people are happy, connected, having fun and see the real-life impact of their work.” As a company, PayPal strongly values diversity and has been given a perfect “100” score for six consecutive years from the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index.
PayPal is looking for interns in everything from project management to data analytics. Their summer internships are a great option for graduating seniors, as they’re designed to lead to full-time employment. Want more?
Here are some other top internships to apply to over winter break.
